ADHD

There is no objective criteria by which Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can be confirmed to exist, despite claims to the contrary.

Commonly, a psychiatrist or psychologist tells parents that their child suffers from a Learning Disorder (LD) – also labeled Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or most often today, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). “Brain disease” or a “chemical imbalance” of the brain may also be mentioned, but parents are always told that this is a well-recognized “medical problem” demanding continuous, prescribed medication. Don’t believe it.

Unlike medicine, there is no scientific basis for any of these “psychiatric disorders.” In this section we answer the most frequently asked questions about this subject and provide information about the risks of drugs prescribed for “learning disorders.” It also refers you to CCHR publications and other recommended reading.

This is not science.

Nor is there any scientific evidence proving that a chemical imbalance in the brain is responsible for the symptoms attributed to ADHD, or that ADHD is a “brain-based disease.” Yet this is repeatedly claimed as fact by psychiatrists.

The diagnostic criteria to determine if a child has ADHD was voted on in a committee meeting by members of the American Psychiatric Association by a simple show of hands. There are many reasons why a child might be displaying behavioural or educational problems. Drugging only masks the real cause.

INFORMATION.

In 2002, the President’s Commission on Excellence in Special Education (United States of America) found that 40% of children being labeled with “learning disorders” simply hadn’t been taught to read.

DRUG WARNINGS

CCHR led the fight for informed consent to psychiatric treatment, obtaining the first law in South Australia in 1979 that granted patients the right to consent to or refuse electroshock treatment. In recent years, it has filed numerous requests to the Therapeutic Goods Administration to reveal all the adverse drug reactions for psychotropic drugs reported to it. Click here to read more

DRUG SIDE EFFECTS

No matter what country someone is prescribed a psychiatric drug, the side effects are the same: dangerous, sometimes life-threatening, but always debilitating. CCHR International in Los Angeles decoded the U.S. Food and Drug Administration psychotropic drug reports database to produce this drug side effects search engine for consumers. This is also relevant to all Australians. You can also view a selection of ADHD drug reactions including Ritalin, Concerta, Dexamphetamine & Strattera obtained by CCHR.

Psychiatric Drugs

An Australian Report Titled, Psychiatric Drugs and Violence documents how Antidepressants and Antipsychotics can Cause Violence.
The report was written as Australians are not adequately warned that psychiatric drugs can cause homicidal actions and thoughts....
