Call for Accountability of Funds Given for Mental Health -
Mental Health Group Wants Funding Directed to Non-invasive Methods and Parents Informed of Alternatives
Mental Health watchdog the Citizens Committee on Human Rights (CCHR) handed out its award winning documentary The Marketing of Madness: Are We All Insane to those attending a Youth Mental Health Conference being held in Melbourne Friday. Conference convenor, Prof. Patrick McGorry used the meeting to call for more funding for mental health, but CCHR says there is no accountability or transparency of existing funds. The DVD highlights the need for parents in particular to be fully informed about potential risks of psychiatric drugs recommended for children and youths and the medical and educational alternatives. They want to see the funding channelled into safer alternatives... Read more...
Full Transparency of Conflicts of Interest Needed at Youth Mental Health Conference - While British experts condemn "Psychosis Risk"
labelling of youths as dangerous
Mental Health watchdog Citizens Committee on Human Rights called for policy changes in Australia to ensure transparency of drug-company ties to speakers at psychiatric conferences. The call was in response to an international Youth Mental Health Conference being held in Melbourne this week, which fails to disclose this information and yet could be used to advocate a dangerous diagnosis and drug treatment. Psychiatry's Brave New World
Best-selling author and educator, Beverly Eakman's latest "New American" article criticizes Patrick McGorry's claims that every second one of us is mentally ill and says: "Just what that indicates about the track record of psychiatry — statistically, a 1000 percent failure rate in reducing 'mental illness' - is debatable." The article should be a clear warning for Australia to reject US mental health screening programmes and "pre-screening" for "at risk" psychosis — drugging kids before they've even developed a disorder. Millions of dollars are being wasted on programmes and drugs that potentially put our children at risk, not of mental "illness" but of damaging drugs that could affect them for life. Read more...

Antipsychotic Drugs Cause Life-Threatening Condition & Death
CCHR obtained Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) regarding antipsychotics from the Therapeutic Goods Administration that shows of the 477 deaths linked to these drugs, 15 were for those aged between 0 and 19. These include intrauterine (in womb) deaths. However, as only 1% of ADRs are reported to the TGA, the deaths could be as high 1,500.
A 10-year-old boy on Risperdal suddenly collapsed and died. The child death rate from antipsychotics could be more than 80 times greater than that in the U.S. The TGA also reported 14 incidents of 10- to 19 year olds experiencing Neuroleptic Malignant Disorder, a potentially fatal toxic reaction to the drugs. It is characterised by sudden loss of body temperature control, renal and respiratory failure, muscle rigidity, loss of consciousness and impairment of the autonomic nervous system. What's Wrong with Psychiatry? A Psychiatrist Explains...
Dr. Niall McLaren, Australian, and practicing psychiatrist for 22 years, explains what is wrong with the psychiatric profession: That this is an industry which cannot take criticism, for fear the entire model of biological psychiatry will unravel.
That there is no science to psychiatric diagnoses, no brain based diseases. And that psychiatry only pushes mental disorders as biological disease in order to convince people to take psychiatric drugs, causing a host of dangerous side effects.
Green Mental Health: An Alternative to Toxic Psychiatric Drugs
Psychiatry's solution to life's problems is the administration of mind-altering toxic drugs which according to the FDA can cause mania, worsening depression, anxiety, delusions, seizures, liver failure, suicide, mania, heart attack, stroke, fatal blood clots, sudden death, diabetes and much more. Green Mental Health Care is a non-toxic, non-additive and non-invasive approach to mental health which focuses on workable medical, not psychiatric, solutions that have better patient outcomes and are not harmful or toxic to those seeking help...
Thomas Szasz, Co-founder of CCHR in 1969
Until now, there has not been a simple guide to Thomas Szasz, Co-founder of CCHR in 1969.

“Szasz is a brilliant debater…. He can turn a topic as somber as insanity and its social context into a book that is extraordinarily entertaining.” — The New York Times Book Review

Children are the future, but psychiatry is making sure 17 million won't have one
by prescribing them psychiatric drugs. These drugs are so dangerous that government authorities have issued "black box" warnings of mania, hostility, suicide, stroke and sudden death. 17,000,000 means more children taking potentially lethal psychiatric drugs than the entire populations of Australia or Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Finland combined.
